A South African artist inspired by vivid colours, textures, shapes and storytelling to share her imagination (and often random thoughts) through art.

Painting opened up to René later in life, following her retirement from the corporate world which took her to the USA in 1995, Belgium in 2009 and a return to South Africa in 2013.

She is an experienced consultant with extensive writing and other communication skills. Her credits include several non fiction books, including “Get Organized,” an early tome on how to manage one’s time in the office in the early days when “info overload” was becoming a buzz in the US workplace.

René has always been interested in crafts. Over the years she has attended classes in pottery, batik, stained glass, beading, crocheting, knitting and sewing.
She spends her time between Johannesburg
and Knysna.

I prefer to work on boxed canvas which allows me to extend the painting onto the two sides of the canvas, creating a depth and additional dimension.
